No. I am not anti-tech, but the whole concept of this particular machine is deception and devilry from the beginning, do not. Please. Letting your child mess with AI would be equivalent to Gandalf intentionally letting Pippin mess with the palantir. Even with supervision... just don't. "Intentionality" here presumably means the parent being personally involved (which he or she must, because no LLM can ever be trusted), but at that point, a regular web browser or a library card would serve infinitely better, and with less feeding the machine with your brain-energy.
I don't think there's going to be a "family friendly" AI any more than there was ever a "family friendly" google, but if your child is going to be learning vector math for example, a discussion with an AI would be absolutely invaluable for explaining it in a way the child can understand. You make a good point about libraries but the ability to specialize the knowledge really is invaluable- the kid might have to spend hours digging through a textbook to find what's relevant to his interests, where an AI can slice out the relevant bits basically immediately. It has its own misinformation+other challenges but I suspect that avoiding prompting entirely is probably just crippling your child for the realities of the future.
